Break, A New Year, A New Semester!

Hello again, it's me, the intermittent poster! Moving on from that, I'm going to post in a list, please forgive me, but it's in the interest of time.

- We had a great break that was over far too quickly. In the second half, we got to spend time with family and a few friends back home, where there was snow, which was lovely and relaxing. I read for pleasure, and enjoyed my husband and family. I'm so glad we had the opportunity to go.

- I was really resistant to going back to school. I felt busy almost immediately and I really didn't want to get back into it!

- I am getting a bit more into the swing of things now, thankfully. It's often the transitions that are difficult.

- I am tracking my food again, because my weight after some time not paying attention and the holidays was just unacceptable! It's very stereotypical new year, but I have done this before and I know I can do it again. It helps that a good friend and I have started a spinning routine (twice a week) together. Accountability, hooray! I am also recommitting to weekly yoga, which is good for both my mental and physical health.

- Hubby and I have both been busy with school and work, so some weeks we barely see each other. Luckily we do our best on the weekends to spend some quality time together. This past weekend we played tennis for the first time in years, which was really fun - and active.

Some photos to summarize things:

 Homemade birthday cake for Dad!

 Christmas Appetizer: Smoked Salmon Pizzettes

Christmas Dinner (with hubby, my parents, and grandparents)

Ham, Brussels sprouts, and "au jus"

Snow!

Layered Mediterranean Dip for a family get together - it was a success! Link here, at Annie's Eats.

In sum: great break, busy now, can't complain! Things are really good overall. I will keep the blog updated on my weight loss/fitness to motivate myself a bit, hopefully! So far I am down 6 pounds from the day I started. At 10 pounds I think I might treat myself to one of these beauties:

It's the Lulu Lemon No Limits Tank, in a couple different colors. I haven't decided for sure which color combo to get, but I'm leaning toward the strip/mint one above. And who knows, maybe after another 10 pounds, I can choose another?

Okay, I'll actually wrap up now. Hope everyone is having a great new year so far! Can you believe it's already 1/12 over?
