Well, FH got his orders for our first official post recently. We'll be there roughly a year as he does a few different training schools. Our schedule is going to be, get married, honeymoon, extend the honeymoon, go home, pack, do the paperwork to change my name, and go! We'll move over a period of a few days (hopefully) staying with family each night along the way - ohh the benefits of a spread out family. Sometimes I get anxious thinking about all the logistics we have yet to figure out, but it will work out, right? Right. We're thinking of living off-post in an apartment, but we are still gathering information as far as that stuff goes too. I'm not even sure what the process of getting on-post housing would be like. Not to mention, I have to get enrolled as a spouse and on health insurance and all that jazz.
Deep breaths. One thing at a time. Crazy to think that in three short months we'll be at our new home!
Good luck on your new journey! It seems daunting, but it will all come together and work out!
ReplyDeleteEverything will come together. If you want to talk to someone about the areas around here, let me know. And as far as healthcare and all on post, I can walk you through that in an afternoon.
ReplyDeleteI don't know about living on post, but there are definitely some nice apartments, and some relatively nice (but cheap) apartments, around here ;)
The process of getting on the list for post housing is simple and can usually be done online or he can call. And then it is just a part of his in-processing. Getting into DEERS isn't hard either. Usually the worst part of all of it is sitting in the waiting room and then the actually task takes no time.
